The intention of the chess notation training game

Online game to learn chess notation more easily

Learning the rules of chess is certainly the first step in being able to correctly move pieces from A to B. However, once you have internalized the basic premise of chess, you are faced with the next - the second step.

You have to know the notations, otherwise you won't get anywhere as a chess player. This is the intention of the online game. It is most easily clarified by referring to a Reddit post from 2015. There, the author formulates the question: "How to get used to notation?"

The answers are basically unsurprising, they can be summed up in the mantra "practice, practice and practice again". To master the "chess language" it is simply inevitable to deal with the notations again and again.

And this is exactly the intention of this site, it wants to make learning in a playful way possible and thus simplify, or at least at least greatly accelerate the learning process.

Chessfruits is convinced that the training game can be very helpful in this respect. It makes learning the abbreviations easier, because very few internalize the handling en passant, unless they have private tutors and/or their name is Beth Harmon.
